Port Economics and Management

This module examines several issues related with port economics. Specifically, it introduces the main functions of ports, their main users (carriers, shippers, passengers) and their performance. In addition, the module provides an in-depth investigation of the operational choices of port operators and the costs associated with each choice. Special topics of this module are the operational objectives of ports, ports’ pricing policy and port investments. Finally, the module incorporates special topics, regarding port safety and security and the future of ports in a global scale.
