Start Up Lab is designed as an alternative to the student work placement that normally takes place in the second semester of year 3 on level 8 degree programmes. It is designed to facilitate TU Dublin students to work on and develop their own new enterprise initiative. Start Up Lab is an experiential learning module designed to equip students with the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to research, formulate, and design an enterprise of cultural, economic, environmental, or social value.
Learning outcomes are:
(1) demonstrate independent thinking and critical reasoning skills in assessing the attractiveness, feasibility, and viability of new venture ideas,
(2) analyse a target market,
(3) Have the ability to evaluate and exercise judgement in the development of a viable business model for a new venture,
(4) design and deliver an effective pitch and portfolio,
(5) appraise own abilities, competences and skills to design start up, and
(6) communicate practical learning experiences.
