Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Engineering Applications

The module aims to introduce Systems Thinking to engineering students in order to analyze challenges and design Entrepreneurial Value Propositions in order to tackle them. It aims for engineering students to develop a basic entrepreneurship skillset, knowledge and attributes needed to apply creative ideas and innovation to find a practical solution to start an enterprise

Key learning outcomes:

  • Understanding and using systems thinking to map systems and define challenges.
  • Investigate and test solutions to identified challenges
  • Identification of business ideas: analysis of market needs and ideas as well as the creation of teams.
  • Analysis of the objectives of the founders of a company and the purpose (Deal) of a start-up business.
  • First market definition and market categorization
  • Calculation of the climate impact of the proposed product or service
  • Ways to discover and attract customers
  • Understanding and analyzing basic principles of finance of a start-up business
  • Develop presentation skills
