The course aims to develop principles of organization and management of agricultural enterprises, as well as topics in Agricultural Economics such as production factors and production functions. It also covers basic concepts in marketing of agricultural products and foods, with extensive reference to agricultural cooperatives, their functionality, and their role in the market. In the Agricultural Policy section, the course presents the natural, socio-structural, and economic characteristics of agriculture that are important for shaping agricultural policy. National land policy, agricultural financing, and the role of agricultural insurance are analyzed. The course also examines the operational mechanisms of the European Union, the World Trade Organization, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and its evolution. Reference is made to international agricultural policy organizations and international agreements affecting the CAP.
Students will learn how agricultural enterprises are organized and managed, how agricultural markets function, and how agricultural policy is shaped. They will understand production factors, production functions, marketing of agricultural products, the role of cooperatives, and the economic activities involved from farm to consumer. They will study national and EU agricultural policy frameworks, including the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), funding mechanisms, and the role of international organizations.
Students will also learn to analyze production costs, evaluate productivity, apply budgeting methods, and use linear programming to determine optimal resource allocation in agricultural production. Overall, they will gain skills to understand, evaluate, and make decisions related to agricultural economics, farm management, and policy implementation.
