Course Philosophy

The success of a hotel unit relies on an effective human resources department, as human resource management is a strategic partner in every service-oriented organization. Practicing human resource management is vital for every manager, as it requires connecting corporate goals with human capital.

Objectives

The aim of the course is to define the role of the human resources department and its contribution to the performance of a hotel unit. Additionally, it analyzes the strategic and operational challenges faced by the industry today. Students will be able to understand the functions of the department, such as recruitment, selection, development and evaluation of human resources.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • Understand the concept of Human Resources
  • Identify the role of the Human Resources Manager
  • Understand the main duties and responsibilities of the HR Manager
  • Use the terminology and glossary related to the department
  • Understand the basic functions of the Human Resources Department
