The course examines issues facing multinational corporations and global investors in international financial markets. The course analyzes the different challenges and opportunities facing participants in global financial markets as well as the theories that underlie transactions by global investors. The course examines equilibrium conditions in international financial markets. Subsequently a brief introduction into instruments of hedging foreign exchange risk is presented. The main component of the course analyses the exposure of the operations of multinational corporations to global financial conditions. The following topic is the capital availability in global markets. The different methods of corporations raising capital globally (debt or equity capital) are presented. Summing up the international diversification of investors’ portfolios is analyzed. Throughout emphasis is placed on the operations of multinational operations in the European Union.
