Course Description
New Venture Design

Delivered as part of the TU Dublin ivenTUre is a student entrepreneurship accelerator programme that runs full time for three weeks during the Summer months. The aim of the programme is to develop and harness learner entrepreneurial and creativity skills. It is designed to develop ability to discover, evaluate and develop ideas into commercially viable concepts, and build those concepts into promotable venture propositions. ivenTUre is based on the premise that there is a clearly identifiable process involved in developing and testing new venture ideas. A central learning outcome for the module is to provide learners with the tools and processes to address each of the stages of new venture planning, including (i) ideation; (ii) business model development; (iii) testing the market; (iv) finalising the business plan; and (v) pitching and promoting the new venture proposition. ivenTUre is an extracurricular initiative of TU Dublin that allows you as a student to participate in a structured development programme to develop a new enterprise idea outside of their regular studies. It is a highly experiential programme where in a three week period the learner will work in an accelerated mode to develop an enterprise idea.

Learning outcomes are:

(1) Demonstrate a capacity to apply structured analytical methods to assess the feasibility and viability of new venture ideas.

(2) Develop a business model for a new venture using the business model canvas.

(3) Design and deliver an effective presentation of a pitch and portfolio for a new venture.
