The course examines in depth the field of shipping operations management and highlights the importance of the key operations for the global shipping industry, and their relation with international trade. The course also explores the operations that govern the administration and management of ships. The course focuses on various decisions that must be made by the different stakeholders in shipping (ship owners, ship operators, ship managers, port authorities, etc.), and the effects of the new environmental regulations, safety regulations, as well as disruptions in the global market. The course presents latent academic research in the field of shipping, and examines in details the impacts of the decarbonisation goals set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
