What is the EUt+ Student Startup Lab?

The EUt+ Student Startup Lab is an innovation launchpad for students, researchers, and alumni across the nine EUt+ partner universities. It supports early-stage entrepreneurial ideas through mentorship, workshops, and access to startup resources and facilities.

Who can apply to the Startup Lab?

The Lab is open to:

  • Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students

  • Postdoctoral researchers and academic staff

  • Recent EUt+ alumni
    You can apply solo or as part of a team.

What kind of startups does the Lab support?

We support two main types of ventures:

  • Student-Driven Startups – founded by students or alumni, with or without prior experience

  • Researcher-Led Startups – based on academic research and usually initiated by PhDs, PostDocs, or faculty members

What kind of support will I receive?

Participants benefit from:

  • Mentorship and expert coaching

  • Ideation and business development workshops

  • Access to incubation/acceleration programs

  • Startup toolkits (pitch templates, business model canvases, etc.)

  • Networking, EU-level competitions, and events

  • Access to EUt+ university facilities (makerspaces, incubators)

What is the EUt+ Incubation Program?

It’s a structured program that helps early-stage entrepreneurs turn ideas into viable startups. Activities include:

  • Online masterclasses

  • In-person team-building through a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)

  • Expert mentoring and coaching

  • Pitching at EU-wide events

How does the application process work?
  • October: Registration opens

  • Early November: Registration closes

  • Mid-November: Selection of up to 3 teams/solo founders per university

  • December – March: Online training and mentoring

  • January: In-person Blended Intensive Programme

  • May – June: EU-wide online and final events

Is there funding available?

While direct funding is not guaranteed, participants receive:

  • Exposure to funding opportunities

  • Guidance on preparing investor-ready material

  • Access to competitions and pitching events

  • Support for long-term fundraising strategy

What is the Acceleration Program?

The Acceleration Program, hosted by TU Dublin, will target startups that are ready to scale. This program is focused on:

  • Venture growth

  • Market validation

  • Funding readiness

How many ideas are accepted each year?

Each year, up to 3 startup teams or individuals per EUt+ university are selected to join the Incubation Program. In the last cycle, 52 startup ideas were supported and mentored across the alliance.

What results has the Lab achieved so far?

In 2024–2025 alone:

  • 148 students participated

  • 52 startup ideas were developed

  • 55+ mentors and industry experts were engaged

  • 85% of participants rated the experience as excellent
